| International: Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday called on the country`s young people to excel in the "relay race" of the new era, describing the nation`s youth as the driving force behind China`s rejuvenation.
Xi made the remarks at a special ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to mark the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Addressing the gathering, Xi said young people are the principal force in advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. He called on the Party at all levels to value, support and nurture the younger generation by creating favourable conditions for their growth and development.
Xi also urged Chinese youth in the new era to remain committed to the leadership of the CPC, pursue ambitious goals and shoulder the responsibilities of their generation with confidence and determination.
He said young people should align their personal aspirations with the goals of the Party and the country, make the best use of every opportunity for self-improvement, and devote their energy and talents to China`s development.
