| International: A public opinion survey conducted by China Global Television Network (CGTN), a subsidiary of China Media Group (CMG), to mark the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has found broadly positive views of the Party`s leadership and governance model among respondents across 41 countries.
The survey, which gathered responses from 11,521 participants worldwide, found that many respondents viewed China`s political party system as offering an alternative approach to governance. According to the poll, participants said China`s model provides what they described as a "Chinese solution" for exploring new forms of political party systems and compared it favourably with what they saw as shortcomings in some Western political systems.
According to the survey results, respondents in 30 of the 41 countries said they believed the CPC represents the fundamental interests of the broadest segments of the population and is better positioned than Western political parties to safeguard China`s overall and long-term national interests.
Overall, 61.3 percent of respondents said they believed Western political parties tend to represent only certain groups of voters, a situation they said could contribute to short-term policymaking and greater social division.
Agreement with that view exceeded 70 percent among respondents from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, South Africa and Nigeria. Among respondents in developed countries, 62.5 percent in the United Kingdom and 61.5 percent in the United States expressed similar views, according to the survey.
The poll also found that 58.5 percent of respondents believed the CPC-led system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation is more conducive to national policymaking, policy implementation and public governance than Western political systems, which the survey described as being more susceptible to internal political divisions.
Regarding responses to major emergencies, 43.5 percent of respondents said they believed the CPC is better able to build consensus and coordinate unified action.
The survey was jointly conducted by CGTN and the Institute for International Communication Studies in the New Era at Renmin University of China. It covered respondents aged 18 and above from 41 countries, including both developed economies and nations in the Global South.
