Khaleda Zia to join election rallies if healthy: Rizvi
  19, October, 2025, 7:25:4:PM

BNP Senior Joint Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will participate in election-related public rallies if her health permits.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the BNP central office at Naya Paltan in Dhaka on Sunday.

Regarding her security, Rizvi said that a bulletproof car is being procured to ensure her safety during public engagements. “If she remains healthy, she will take part in election-related public programs,” he added.

Rizvi expressed concern over attempts to create instability in the country in connection with the interim government’s election plans. He alleged that repeated fire incidents, including recent cases at Shahjalal Airport and a launch in Chattogram, may not be accidental but part of a deliberate conspiracy. He questioned whether bureaucratic hurdles, such as blocking fire service vehicles, are intentional.

He further claimed that certain groups, with alleged backing from India, are trying to undermine stability in Bangladesh, and have historically supported governments like Sheikh Hasina’s instead of a legitimate administration. Rizvi also criticized India’s interference in the 2014 elections by trying to convince former President Ershad to participate, calling it a violation of Bangladesh’s sovereignty.

Rizvi stressed that all anti-fascist political forces must unite to restore democracy. “If mobocracy replaces democracy, establishing true democracy will be impossible,” he said.

The press briefing was also attended by BNP Joint Secretary Khairul Kabir Khokon and Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarfat Ali Sopu, among others.
