| (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) has barred anyone other than residents or voters from staying in the Thakurgaon-1 constituency from 8am on October 27 to 4pm on October 30, ahead of the by-election to the seat on October 29.
People involved in election activities and those authorised by the EC are exempt from the restriction, according to a letter signed by EC Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Shahidul Islam.
The letter, conveying the decision, was sent today to the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police of Thakurgaon.
The letter said the EC took the decision to hold the election to the vacant seat of the Thakurgaon-1 constituency of the 13th National Parliament, scheduled for October 29, in an impartial, neutral and peaceful manner, free from influence.
“No person other than those involved in election activities, those authorised by the EC, and residents or voters of the concerned constituency shall stay in the constituency from 48 hours before the start of polling until 24 hours after the end of polling,” it read.
“That is, from 8am on October 27 to 4pm on October 30,” the letter added.
The letter also requested that necessary measures be taken, by order, in line with the decision.
