(BSS) - Nine people died of dengue and 1,902 were hospitalised after being infected with dengue in the last 24 hours across the country, according to a regular report of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the new hospitalized dengue patients, 216 were in Barishal Division, 272 in Chattogram Division, 401 in Dhaka Division [outside the city corporation], 206 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 223 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 306 in Khulna Division, 98 in Mymensingh Division, 105 in Rajshahi Division, 66 in Rangpur Division and nine in Sylhet Division, the release said.

According to the report, a total of 88,360 people have, so far, been hospitalized with dengue infection across the country till October 5, this year while 82,335 dengue patients have been recovered and discharged from
different hospitals after treatment.

However, in the last 24 hours, 1,988 people were recovered and discharged from the hospitals.

With the new deaths in the past 24 hours, the death toll from the disease stood at 271 this year.

From January 1 to December 31, 2025, a total of 102,861 people were infected with dengue and 413 people died from the disease.
