A total of 817 candidates, who were left out of appointments to government primary schools, will receive their appointment letters by October 1, said Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan said on Monday.

He made the announcement at a meeting of the National Steering Committee held at the Education Ministry’s conference room at the Secretariat.

“There are currently 817 candidates who have been denied appointments in primary schools. They will receive their appointments by October 1.``

Milan added that the authorities would continue working on the cases of those who do not receive appointments.

The minister said nearly 1.069 million candidates had participated in the primary teacher recruitment examination conducted during the interim government’s tenure.

“We started working to ensure that the recruitment process was properly maintained,” he said, adding that final applications involving 854 candidates from 33 groups had been received.

Appointment letters are issued by the District Primary Education Offices (DPEOs). During the process, authorities found that some candidates required verification, while some had changed their addresses, the minister said.

“Candidates are submitting those documents in phases.``

The minister added that verification was being conducted on a rolling basis and updated addresses were also being received.

“Those whose cases have not yet been completed are under observation and are being reviewed. This process will continue until October 1.``
