International: Construction of China`s Three Gorges Waterway New Channel Project has officially begun.

The project includes the construction of a new channel for the Three Gorges Project and the expansion of transportation facilities at Gezhouba. According to the design plan, the channel will accommodate vessels with a carrying capacity of 10,000 tonnes. The Three Gorges Waterway New Channel Project is enormous in scale and will involve overcoming extraordinary technical complexities. It is being implemented after decades of research and design, as well as the accumulation of technological capabilities over several decades. The total investment amounts to approximately 77.208 billion yuan.

Upon completion, the project is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of cargo transportation; facilitate the development of the integrated transportation corridor along the Yangtze River; support the implementation of the Yangtze River Economic Belt development strategy; contribute to the advancement of the dual circulation development model integrating domestic and international markets; and ensure the effective implementation of the principles of ecological priority and green development.
