| Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman has been unofficially declared the winner in both the Dhaka-17 and Bogura-6 constituencies during the 13th National Parliament Election and the concurrent constitutional Referendum.
The announcement was made by BNP Election Steering Committee spokesperson Dr. Mahdi Amin during a press briefing on Thursday night.
While specific vote tallies were not disclosed, the victory marks a significant moment for the party’s top leadership.
In a separate result, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, contesting with the "Sheaf of Paddy" symbol, secured his seat in Thakurgaon-1.
Tarique Rahman, who has expressed his intention to lead the country alongside movement allies if elected to power, saw his victory unfold as the nation participated in a historic dual-voting process.
For the first time, voters simultaneously cast ballots for parliamentary representatives and participated in a constitutional referendum to provide a "Yes" or "No" mandate for national reforms.
The election, conducted across 299 constituencies, was described by officials and observers as largely peaceful and festive.
Nearly two million security and polling personnel were deployed to manage the 42,659 stations, ensuring a steady flow of voters from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
This landmark election day is being viewed by many as a vital step toward restoring democratic norms and implementing fundamental state reforms.
