BNP committed to realizing ideals of Liberation War under Tarique Rahman’s leadership: Moyeen Khan
  26, March, 2026, 8:05:59:PM

(BSS) - Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and a Member of Parliament, has said that under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, BNP is committed to implementing the ideals of the Liberation War within a short time after achieving a decisive victory in the February 12 election.

He made these remarks today while speaking as the chief guest at a series of discussion meetings organized by local BNP and its associate bodies in Palash here, marking the 55th Independence Day.

Dr. Moyeen Khan said that BNP was founded by the great proclaimer of independence, Ziaur Rahman. Therefore, he emphasized, BNP remains the most reliable force in upholding the spirit of independence and nationalism.

He stressed that the party has always played an uncompromising role in protecting the country’s independence, sovereignty, and democracy, and will continue to do so in the future.

He noted that even after more than five decades of independence, Bangladesh has yet to fully achieve the core ideals of the Liberation War—equality, human dignity, and social justice. The dream of building a discrimination-free society still remains largely unfulfilled.

Dr. Moyeen Khan further stated that leaderships in power at different times have failed to uphold democratic values. However, he added that the people of the country have repeatedly stood up against injustice and played a significant role in restoring justice and democracy.

He also mentioned that the primary goal of the Liberation War was to eliminate injustice and inequality from society and establish a democratic, justice-based state. However, this goal has been hindered at various stages of history.

Criticizing the period from 2008 to 2024, he alleged that authoritarian rule during that time undermined fundamental rights and deepened inequalities across society. He further claimed that the misuse of state power restricted people’s rights.

The senior BNP leader added that various forms of inequality still persist in the country—between the rich and the poor, the powerful and the ordinary citizens, as well as regional disparities and gender inequality. He particularly pointed out that people living in hilly, coastal, and remote areas are still deprived of equal opportunities.

The meeting was presided over by Abdus Sattar, President of Palash Upazila BNP. Among others present were Bahauuddin Bhuiyan Milton, Senior Joint Secretary of the Upazila BNP; Alam Molla, President of the Municipal BNP; Mostafizur Rahman Papon, Member Secretary of the Upazila Chhatra Dal, along with leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations.
