CA likely to announce election date within days: Mustafa Haider
  26, July, 2025, 11:10:5:PM

Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will announce the election date and roadmap within the next four to five days, according to Mustafa Jamal Haider, head of the 12-party alliance, following a meeting with political leaders.

"Nothing could be more joyful than this," Haider said after a meeting with the Chief Adviser and leaders of 14 political parties held on Saturday (26 July) at the State Guesthouse Jamuna.

Political leaders who attended the discussion included Aminul Haque Tipu Biswas (National People`s Front), Maulana Abdul Majed Athari (Nizam-e-Islam Party), Maulana Yusuf Ashraf (Khelafat Majlis), Fariduzzaman Farhad (NPP), Syed Ehsanul Huda (Bangladesh Jatiya Dal), Mushtaq Hossain (Bangladesh JaSaD), Bobby Hajjaj (Nationalist Democratic Movement), Shamim Haider (Zaker Party), Mufti Sakhawat Hossain Raji (Islami Oikya Jote), Rafiqul Islam Bablu (Bhasani Janashakti Party), Mostafizur Rahman Iran (Bangladesh Labour Party), Masud Rana (BSD-Marxist), and Manjurul Islam Afandi (Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam).

Manjurul Islam said the Chief Adviser discussed the ongoing national crises and emphasized the importance of unity. “He said they want to move towards elections shortly,” he noted.

However, he added that some party leaders raised concerns about the order in which parties were invited to the dialogues, calling it discriminatory. They also voiced objections to the planned opening of a UN human rights office in the country, which the Chief Adviser noted.

Fariduzzaman Farhad of the NPP added, "The Chief Adviser said, InshaAllah, the election date will be announced very soon. We responded, Alhamdulillah."

This was the third round of political dialogue held by Dr. Yunus, following earlier meetings with BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and others on July 22 and 23.
