Warning signal no. 3 issued at four seaports
  25, July, 2025, 6:34:55:PM

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a No. 3 local warning signal at four river ports as a low-pressure system over the northern Bay of Bengal has intensified, resulting in turbulent seas along the coast.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also forecast nationwide due to this system.

Meteorologist Kazi Zebunnesa said that the low-pressure area may strengthen further, with unsettled weather expected to continue for the rest of July.

According to the latest bulletin issued on Friday morning, the low pressure is moving northwest and is likely to cross the West Bengal-Bangladesh coastal border by Friday afternoon.

The sea ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have also been advised to hoist the No. 3 warning signal amid rough sea conditions.

Heavy rains may cause flash floods in urban areas including Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram. Landslides are also possible in the southeastern hill districts such as Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Bandarban, and Cox’s Bazar.

Fishermen and boat operators have been urged to take immediate shelter and remain there until further notice.
