The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-10) arrested Nannu, one of the accused in the murder case of scrap trader Lal Chand alias Sohag, from the Bandar area of Narayanganj around 1:00 am on Tuesday (July 14), with assistance from RAB-11. This brings the total number of arrests in connection with the incident to eight.

Confirming the arrest, RAB-11 Commander Lt Col HM Sajjad Hossain said, “RAB-10 conducted the raid and made the arrest. We provided assistance. Further details will be disclosed by RAB-10.”

According to sources, Nannu was among the four individuals who ensured Sohag’s death by striking him with bricks and cement blocks.

Sohag, a scrap vendor, was brutally hacked and struck with bricks and cement blocks at Rojoni Ghosh Lane near Mitford Hospital on July 9, reportedly following a business feud. He died on the spot due to the inhuman torture inflicted on him.

Following the incident, the victim’s sister filed a case with Kotwali Police Station, naming 19 individuals. The murder sparked widespread outrage.

Locals suspect extortion as the primary motive behind the killing.
