Online Desk: Three policemen have been charged with robbery in Cox`s Bazar. The court also remanded three policemen for two days for questioning. The arrested policemen are Sub-Inspector (SI) Nur-e Khoda Siddiqui, Constable Aminul Momin and Mamun Mollah. All were working at the Cox`s Bazar city police outpost. They have been suspended. Besides, departmental action is being taken against them.

On the night of March 1, Rozina Khatun, the victim, filed a case against the policemen under the Speedy Trial Act.

It is learned that on the afternoon of March 1, a woman named Rozina Khatun returned home after collecting three lakh rupees from her relatives. At 4 pm, four men dressed in white went to his house and demanded money as a yaba trader. When Rozina refused to pay, he hit her on the head with a pistol. At one stage, Rozina handed over three lakh rupees to the white-clad people. As they were leaving after receiving the money, the locals caught one of them shouting at Rozina. Later, he called 999 and informed the Cox`s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station. Police arrested the detainee from the spot and took him into police custody.

Rozina Khatun`s husband Riaz Ahmed said, "My wife collected the money from her relatives to run a gas shop in the Prime Minister`s Asylum Project in Khurushkul Union, Sadar Upazila, Cox`s Bazar."

After getting the initial truth of the incident, on Monday night, March 1, it was decided to file a case under the Speedy Trial Act against the 3 accused and others involved. The three policemen were later handed over to the court on March 2 and remanded in custody for two days for questioning. Judge Delwar Hossain Shamim passed the order on Tuesday.

Investigating officer of the case and Cox`s Bazar Sadar Police Station SI Abdul Majed said the arrested persons were sent to court and remanded for five days. Judge Delwar Hossain Shamim of the speedy trial tribunal granted a two-day remand. The police remanded the three accused on Tuesday night, the official said.

Additional Superintendent of Police Rafiqul Islam said, “Legal action is being taken against those involved in the incident after investigation.
