  Trial begins against 26 in killings of Mugdho and 10 others

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-2) has framed charges against 26 people in a crimes against humanity case involving the killings of Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho and 10 others in Dhaka`s Uttara during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in 2024.

The ICT-2 panel, led by Chairman Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, indicted them on Sunday.
Initially, the tribunal set September 16 to pass an order, but it deferred to September 23. Later, the date was also deferred and set for October 11.

A total of 26 individuals, including police personnel and local leaders and activists of the Awami League, which now faces a ban on activities, have been named in the case. Of the accused, eight are in jail, and the remaining 18 are on the run.
