International: A China Media Group (CMG) film and television showcase opened in Bishkek on Wednesday ahead of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit and the Chinese President’s visit to Kyrgyzstan. Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President and Editor-in-Chief of CMG, delivered a video address at the opening ceremony.

Ulanbek Sadyyev, General Manager of the Kyrgyz National Television and Broadcasting Corporation, and Li Hua, a senior official at the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, attended the opening ceremony.

In his video address, Shen Haixiong said the showcase would help Kyrgyz audiences gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, wisdom and spirituality. He called for efforts to implement the four global initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and promote the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation spirit. He also stressed the need to inject new momentum into the long-standing friendship between the peoples of China and Kyrgyzstan through greater people-to-people exchanges and practical cooperation.

In his address, Ulanbek Sadyyev said the Kyrgyz National Television and Radio Corporation attaches great importance to cooperation with Chinese media organizations. He expressed hope that high-quality films and television programmes would be exchanged more actively between the two countries, while professional cooperation in areas including news reporting and content production would be further deepened.

The CMG showcase of outstanding films and television programmer in Kyrgyzstan is scheduled to continue until the end of October.
