Adequate relief has been kept in stock for flood-affected people as per the Prime Minister`s instructions, said Dhaka Deputy Commissioner (DC) Farida Khanam.

She said this while distributing relief materials among flood-affected people who have taken shelter at Dhamalkot High School in Bhashantek area of the capital today.
Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam said, "All the departments concerned have been instructed to work in a coordinated manner to ensure food, pure water, medical services, sanitation and baby food in the shelters. The administration is monitoring the situation round the clock so that no affected family is deprived of assistance." The district administration is working with utmost importance to ensure that no one suffers from lack of food in the flood situation.
He said that the district administration is working in coordination with all the concerned organizations to ensure adequate food, clean water, dry food and necessary assistance for the families affected by the flood. If there is any complaint of relief crisis or deprivation of assistance in any area, immediate action will be taken.
Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam inquired about the people staying in the shelters and asked about their needs. She instructed the concerned officials and said that a healthy environment, safe drinking water, sanitation and the special needs of children, women and the elderly should be ensured with utmost importance in the shelters.
He also said that in order to deal with the disaster, the wealthy individuals of the society, voluntary organizations and various institutions should come forward with humanitarian assistance along with the government. It is possible to reduce the suffering of the flood-affected people only through joint efforts.
He said that not a single person should be allowed to die due to lack of hunger. The government is by the side of the flood-affected people. All administration officials are working tirelessly to quickly deliver relief to those in need.
