  25-06-2026

Kamrul Hasan : Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Afroz Khanam Rita, MP, has called upon all those involved in the healthcare sector to perform their duties with responsibility, professionalism, and dedication in order to make the country`s healthcare system more effective, people-oriented, and service-friendly.

She made the call while addressing a views-exchange meeting with doctors, nurses, and officials of the health department as the chief guest at the auditorium of the 250-bed Modern Manikganj District Hospital on Wednesday (June 24), following her inspection of the hospital.

The minister said that alongside the country`s overall development, the current government is implementing various initiatives to modernize healthcare services and make them more accessible to people at their doorsteps.

She stated that one of the key objectives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman`s development agenda is to ensure quality healthcare services for all citizens. To achieve this goal, emphasis must be placed not only on infrastructure development but also on improving the quality of healthcare services and ensuring a patient-friendly environment.

She further noted that the sincerity and responsible conduct of doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers play a vital role in building patients` trust in the healthcare system. To meet public expectations, accountability, discipline, and humanitarian values must be prioritized at every level of the healthcare sector.

Afroz Khanam Rita also said that national development becomes meaningful only when ordinary people can easily and efficiently access quality healthcare and other basic services. Therefore, all stakeholders in the health sector must work in a coordinated manner.

Among those present at the meeting were Deputy Commissioner Nazmun Ara Sultana, Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Abdullah Al Masum, Hospital Superintendent Dr. Mohammad Bahauddin, President of DAB Dr. Badrul Alam, General Secretary Dr. Ziaur Rahman Zia, and leaders of the District BNP and its associate organizations.

Earlier, the minister visited various wards, the emergency department, and healthcare service facilities of the hospital. During the visit, she spoke with patients and their attendants to learn about the quality of services, medicine supply, and other challenges faced by the hospital.

Concerned officials believe that such high-level government supervision and monitoring of healthcare institutions will play a positive role in strengthening accountability and enhancing the quality of public healthcare services.

Prior to the hospital visit, the minister also inspected canal excavation activities at Amdala in Shibalaya Upazila, Taluk Nagar in Daulatpur Upazila, and Gazikhali Canal in Saturia Upazila, as well as Manikganj Medical College.
