| International: Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory message to the commemorative conference marking the 55th anniversary of China–US “Ping-Pong Diplomacy” and the opening ceremony of a series of youth sports exchange activities between the two countries, held in Beijing on Friday, April 10.
In his message, Xi noted that 55 years ago, leaders of China and the United States demonstrated exceptional political wisdom and strategic foresight by reopening friendly exchanges between the peoples of the two countries.
He emphasized that the renewed “ping-pong bond” among young people, along with ongoing sports exchange programs, plays an important role in promoting friendship between China and the United States.
Xi further stressed that the foundation of China–US relations lies in the people, and its future depends on the younger generation. He expressed hope that individuals from various sectors in both countries, especially young people, would enhance mutual understanding through communication and cooperation, and build stronger bonds of friendship.
Such engagement, he added, would foster mutual learning, strengthen ties, and contribute to the stable and sustainable development of bilateral relations.
The commemorative event and youth sports exchange launch ceremony were held in Beijing on Friday.
