  KMT Leader Calls for Strengthened Cross-Strait Cooperation

International: Cheng Li-wen, Chairperson of Taiwan’s Kuomintang (KMT), has called for enhanced cross-strait cooperation in science and technology innovation during her visit to Zhongguancun, often referred to as China’s “Silicon Valley,” in Beijing on Saturday, April 11.

Cheng expressed admiration for the technological advancements showcased in the Chinese mainland and voiced hope for deeper cooperation across the Taiwan Strait.

On Friday, Cheng also visited a high school affiliated with Tsinghua University, where she observed the practical application of artificial intelligence in education.

Her visit to the mainland is taking place at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and its General Secretary Xi Jinping. On Friday morning, President Xi met with Cheng in Beijing.

This marks the first visit to the mainland in a decade by a KMT delegation led by the party chairperson, highlighting a notable moment in cross-strait engagement.
