Significant Progress in China–Sri Lanka Police Cooperation
  10-04-2026

International: On April 9 (Thursday), China’s Ministry of Public Security stated that, amid the deepening of international law enforcement cooperation between China and Sri Lanka and ongoing joint efforts to combat cross-border telecommunications and online fraud, Sri Lankan police recently repatriated 125 individuals who had been arrested in an earlier operation conducted in China in connection with telecom fraud cases.

Since the beginning of this year, in response to a noticeable trend of individuals involved in telecom fraud and related illegal activities relocating from other countries to Sri Lanka, police forces of China and Sri Lanka have continuously strengthened practical law enforcement cooperation and intensified their crackdown efforts.

Recently, Sri Lankan police carried out a series of operations, dismantling multiple fraud hideouts and arresting several suspects involved in telecom fraud. With strong support from the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, China’s Ministry of Public Security organized police officers from Hubei Province on March 29 to facilitate the orderly repatriation of the relevant individuals.

At present, public security authorities in Hubei are making full efforts to investigate the cases further.
