| Diplomatic Correspondent: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has delivered 100 tons of gift dates to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, provided by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as part of its ongoing humanitarian and relief efforts to support communities in need around the world.
The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia held an official ceremony on Thursday, 12 March 2026 to grace this opportunity, attended by His Excellency Khalid Haddal, charge of the Embassy, and Mr. Muhammed Bashir, Director in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Md. Rasel Subrin, Director and Mohammad Jahangir Ali Khan, Deputy Director from Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and Mr. Adnan Alenazi, a representative from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. The whole event was directed and moderated by Mr Yasir Sheshah, Political and Media Affairs Director. The shipment, consisting of approximately 12,500 cartons of dates, arrived in Bangladesh and was officially received and distributed by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. The initiative reflects the strong humanitarian partnership between the two countries and highlights Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting friendly nations during important occasions and humanitarian needs. The dates will be distributed to beneficiaries across various districts of Bangladesh, particularly targeting vulnerable families and communities. This humanitarian gesture comes as part of Saudi Arabia’s annual program of providing dates to many countries worldwide, especially ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, when dates hold special cultural and religious significance for Muslims as they are traditionally used to break the daily fast. Through the leadership and guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the continued support of His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expanded its humanitarian outreach worldwide. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center serves as the Kingdom’s leading platform for delivering humanitarian assistance, relief aid, and development support to communities affected by crises and hardship. Officials from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Mr. Md. Rasel Subrin, Director and Mohammad Jahangir Ali Khan, Deputy Director expressed their appreciation for the generous contribution from the Government of Saudi Arabia, noting that such initiatives strengthen bilateral relations and provide meaningful support to thousands of families across Bangladesh.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues to play a leading role in international humanitarian efforts, offering assistance in food security, health services, emergency relief, and sustainable development initiatives. The delivery of these dates represents a symbol of solidarity and friendship between the people of Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh, reinforcing the spirit of compassion and cooperation that defines humanitarian work. Alongside Dr Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane, Professor of University of Dhaka, senior officials from the Saudi Embassy attendees included Masudur Rahman and Mrs Raisa.
