Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his congratulations to BNP leader Tarique Rahman following the party`s absolute victory in the Bangladesh parliamentary elections.

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday morning (February 13), PM Modi stated:

This victory is a reflection of the trust of the people of Bangladesh. India will stand by Bangladesh in building a democratic, progressive, and inclusive nation.

India’s message follows a similar congratulatory note from the United States, which greeted the BNP and Tarique Rahman for their historic win and expressed interest in collaborating on mutual goals of prosperity and security.

Additionally, India congratulated the people of Bangladesh for the successful conduct of the election, signaling a diplomatic commitment to the transition of power.
