| Diplomatic Correspondent: The Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka hosted an event to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day, emphasizing the need for resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute to achieve lasting peace in South Asia.
In their messages, Pakistani leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, highlighted India`s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir as the core issue between Pakistan and India. They condemned India`s systematic oppression and human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Speakers at the event stressed that India`s military escalation in May last year underscores the urgent need for resolving the dispute. They urged India to cease human rights abuses and called on the international community to facilitate a free and fair plebiscite under UN auspices, as per UNSC resolutions.
A photo exhibition showcasing Indian occupation forces` atrocities in IIOJK was also organized. High Commissioner Imran Haider thanked participants for expressing solidarity with Kashmiris.
