(BSS) - A mobile court today seized 140 sacks of illegally hoarded fertilizer during a drive in the Kanaidanga area of Godagari Upazila in the district.

The drive, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Israt Jahan, was conducted on Thursday.

According to sources in the Upazila administration, acting on information that fertilizers had been illegally hoarded in the cowshed of Nasiruddin, son of late Mohsin Ali`s cousin late Khadimul Islam Socket, a raid was conducted there.

During the raid, 90 sacks of MOP and 50 sacks of DAP fertilizer were recovered and seized from the cowshed.

The mobile court also fined the person concerned Tk 50,000 for illegally hoarding fertilizer and took a bond from him.

The Upazila administration said such drives will continue against the illegal hoarding of fertilizer allocated for farmers, creation of artificial crises, and selling at excessive prices.
