| International: According to the “2025 China Online Literature Development Report” released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, the scale of China’s online literature reading market reached 50.21 billion yuan by the end of 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 16.6 percent. Meanwhile, the online literature IP adaptation market reached 367.61 billion yuan, reflecting a 23.13 percent growth compared to the previous year.
The report notes that in 2025, the online literature sector has maintained a positive trajectory of prosperity and development. Driven by policy support and guidance, cross-sector integration of literature, arts, and technology, and combined momentum from multiple forces, the creation, development, global dissemination, and value chain of online literature are becoming increasingly self-sustaining and well-structured. It is providing readers with a vast, diverse, and rich range of literary content.
At the same time, the sector is serving as a major source of intellectual property (IP) for the broader entertainment industry. It is demonstrating innovative integration with cultural tourism and strong empowerment through artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. These developments are contributing to the globalization of Chinese culture in the internet era and have become a foundational force behind the “new three sectors” of cultural innovation.
