The price of gold in the country has increased again, with the highest-quality 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) rising by Tk 2,216 to Tk 270,430 per bhori.

According to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), the increase follows a rise in the price of refined (pure) gold in the local market. The new prices came into effect at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 11.

The decision to raise gold prices was made during a meeting of BAJUS’ Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, and the information was later announced in a notification signed by the committee chairman, Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.

Previously, the price of one bhori of high-quality gold was increased by Tk 3,266 starting 10:00 am on Tuesday. Within 24 hours, another hike has been implemented.

Alongside 22-carat gold, the price of 21-carat gold per bhori increased by Tk 2,099, reaching Tk 258,124. Meanwhile, the price of 18-carat gold per bhori rose by Tk 1,808 to Tk 221,266. The traditional gold measurement per bhori was also raised by Tk 1,458, bringing the new price to Tk 180,617.
