| Online Desk : The body of a retired headmistress was recovered by the police from her residence in Ghop Central Road area of Jashore town.
The body was found on Thursday (September 25) afternoon.
The dead Nigar Sultana, 63, was the headmistress of Narangali Primary School in Jashore Sadar upazila and retired three years ago.
Locals mentioned that she had been living alone on the second floor of a three-story building. A divorcee and childless, she was the eldest of six sisters, with the other five living in their own homes. Her neighbors had not heard from her for two to three days.
On Thursday morning, the tenants of the building noticed a bad smell coming from her flat. Suspecting something was wrong, they informed the police. Authorities, along with the fire service, arrived at the scene, broke the lock on her flat, and discovered her body inside.
Inspector (Investigation) Kazi Babul of Kotwali Police Station said that Nigar Sultana had been suffering from various health issues. She lived alone, and the latch inside her room was secured. It is believed that she passed away due to illness 3-4 days ago. An investigation is ongoing.
