Police have recovered a man`s body from a canal in Bhandaria upazila of Pirojpur district on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Rabbani Bepari, 25, son of Montu Bepary of Dakkhin Vitabari village under Vitabari union in the upazila.

According to locals, Rabbani was taken away from home by some people at around 10 PM on Sunday but didn’t returned home since then.

Later, locals found his body floating in the Kaplirhat canal on Monday morning and informed the police.

Being informed by the locals, police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Pirojpur General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Initial investigations suggest the murder might have been due to a previous conflict or drug-related disputes.

Bhandaria Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Manik Halder confirmed the incident and said that the body was found with hands and feet tied and bricks attached.
