  19-07-2025

Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami are gathering with processions at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital ahead of the party’s ‘national rally’ scheduled for Saturday. Since morning, a significant presence of party activists has been noticeable at key busy points outside the park.

The rally will commence at 2:00 pm and will be chaired by the party’s Amir, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. Central leaders are expected to deliver speeches. With the national election approaching, the rally is anticipated to convey important political messages.

Activists began gathering at the venue from Friday night. On Saturday morning, visits to Shahbagh, Matsyabhaban, and Banglamotor intersections revealed supporters from various parts of the country heading towards the rally site. Many were seen chanting slogans, carrying flags, or wearing them on their heads. The metro rail was also crowded with Jamaat activists from early morning.

Ashraful Haque, a Jamaat activist from Manikganj district traveling via Banglamotor to the rally, told News, “This is the largest rally in 17 years. It is a historic moment, and I consider it a privilege to be here. I miss our former leaders.”

Since Friday evening, Jamaat workers have been present around Suhrawardy Udyan, and by early Saturday morning, the rally site was nearly fully packed with participants. Although the main event will start at 2 pm, Islamic music performances will begin at 10 am on the rally stage.
