Tajul urges journo to present story of every martyr of July Uprising
  25, October, 2025, 10:20:0:PM

(BSS) - International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam today called upon the journalists to present story of every martyr of the July 2024 mass Uprising before the nation.

“Language and emotions of the new generation must be highlighted,” he told an event marking the 21st founding anniversary of the Daily Naya Diganta, held at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Political leaders and people from different professions attended the event and extended their greetings and best wishes to Naya Diganta on its anniversary.

“If we speak to the families of each martyr of July–August and document their stories, we will witness a glorious saga of heroism. If we fail to bring their voices forward, we will never truly understand this generation. Then we will have no moral right to lead or remain relevant in the Bangladesh in the coming days,” said Tajul.

“We must comprehend the inner transformation that occurred during the great revolution of July and August. The graffiti on the walls of Dhaka University and the city reflect their language, their presentation, their cries of the heart — and we must understand them. Based on that, we need to build the narrative,” he said.

“Newspapers have not fully portrayed the dreadful state of Sheikh Hasina’s rule. There is still time to bring those stories forward — every case of enforced disappearance, every martyr of the July movement, every cry of the new generation must be told,” said Tajul.

He said, “We once dismissed Gen Z as useless — saying they just play PUBG (video game) and only use Facebook. But like the swallow birds, with tiny stones and sticks, they crushed a tyrant and even drove her out to Delhi. This is an epic revolution. We must weave it into the lifeblood of the nation and record their heroism for future generations — so that when the time comes, our children may rise again in the same spirit.”
The chief prosecutor extended greetings to Naya Diganta on its anniversary.
