| A mild earthquake was felt in Manirampur upazila of Jashore at 2:27pm on Saturday, September 27.
The tremor registered a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre located within Manirampur itself.
Md Rubaiyat Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of the Earthquake Observation and Research Centre at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, confirmed the incident to Jago News. He described it as a low-intensity earthquake and noted that this marks the seventh time this year that seismic activity has been recorded within the country’s borders.
Earlier this month, on 21 September, another tremor was felt in the Sylhet region. That earthquake, with a magnitude of 4.0, originated in Chhatak, Sunamganj district.
Authorities have assured the public that such low-magnitude quakes typically cause no damage, but advised residents to remain alert and follow safety guidelines in the event of stronger seismic activity.
