| After a three-year pause, tomato import through Chapainawabganj`s Sonamasjid land port resumed on Sunday (September 21) with the arrival of 60 metric tonnes of tomatoes from India.
Around 11:00 am, two Indian trucks loaded with tomatoes entered the Panama Port Link Limited premises at the Sonamasjid land port. The consignment was imported by a trader named Zainal Abedin.
Tipu Sultan, Public Relations Officer of Panama Port Link Limited, said, “Tomatoes were previously imported through this port, but the process had been suspended for the past three years. Today, two trucks carrying 60 tonnes of tomatoes arrived unexpectedly. Unloading is currently underway.”
He added that the tomatoes will soon be distributed to different parts of the country.
