A gunfight has taken place between army and armed members of UPDF (Proshit Group) in the remote Jagapara area of Panchhari upazila in Khagrachhari district on Saturday.

Based on a tip-off, army personnel went on an operation at Jagapara area and conducted a search operation when a group of 15-20 armed miscreants opened fire. The army members returned fire in self-defence, and at one point, the miscreants fled.

Subsequently, they started searching the surrounding area and found one Russian pistol with 8 rounds of ammunition, two magazines, 200 rounds of rifle ammunition, one walkie-talkie set, and a uniform along with other accessories.

Confirming the operation, ISPR (Inter-Services Public Relations) said in a press release that the process of filing a case against the armed individuals involved in the incident is underway.
