England looked poised for victory after building a massive first-innings lead and reducing India to 1 for 2 early in the second innings.
But India, powered by gritty centuries from Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar, staged a remarkable fightback to earn a dramatic draw in the fourth Test at Old Trafford.
Under pressure, Gill anchored the innings with a composed 103 off 238 balls — his fourth century of the tour. He stitched together a crucial 188-run stand with KL Rahul, who fell just short of a century on 90.
The real rescue act came from Jadeja and Sundar. The pair batted through the final day, adding an unbeaten 203 runs for the fifth wicket. Sundar scored a resilient 101 off 206 balls, while Jadeja remained not out on 107 from 185 deliveries.
India declared at 425 for 4, prompting England to settle for a draw with 10 overs left in the day. With the series now standing at 2-1 in England’s favor, all eyes turn to the fifth and final Test at The Oval, starting July 31.
