Dengue: One dies, 329 cases in 24 hours

One person died and 329 people got infected newly of dengue in the last 24 hours, according to directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

A press release in this regard was issued by the DGHS on Sunday (June 22).

Among the newly admitted patients, 136 were from areas outside Barishal City Corporation, 64 from outside Chattogram City Corporation, 38 from outside Dhaka division, 21 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 43 from Dhaka South City Corporation, 15 from outside Khulna City Corporation, two from outside Mymensingh division, and 10 from outside Rajshahi City Corporation.

In the past 24 hours, 310 dengue patients were released from hospitals. So far this year, a total of 6,817 patients have recovered and been discharged.

As of June 22, a total of 7,758 people have been infected with dengue this year. Of them, 59.1 percent are male and 40.9 percent are female.

With the latest fatality reported from Dhaka South City Corporation area, the total number of deaths caused by dengue in 2024 has risen to 32.

DGHS report said January 1 to June 22 this year, dengue has affected 7,758 people. In contrast, during the entire year of 2024, a total of 101,214 people were infected and 575 people died from the disease.

In 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives and led to the hospitalization of 321,179 patients across the country.
